New Years Longevity Boosting Resolutions
We do hope that all of you had a wonderful few weeks celebrating your particular holiday, and the New Year. Did everyone remain true to their physical and emotional health and well being? We hope so. In case you didn't, and just as importantly, if you did, here are a few healthy, longevity boosting New Year's resolutions to live by, this year and always.
KEEP MOVING. Find ways to move naturally, such as walking, gardening, and using fewer labor saving devices.
FIND PURPOSE, and pursue it with passion. As my friend Wayne Dyer says, "Don't die with your music still in you".
SLOW DOWN. As Gayle Stolove says, "More is not better. Quality is more important than Quantity". Rest more. Take more vacations or mini vacations. Eat better quality food, not more of it. Make better friends, not more friends.
STOP EATING when you are about 80% full. Find your individual comfortable amount of food per meal, that keeps you going until your next meal, without making you uncomfortably full, or stressing out your digestive system. This should be about the same at each meal making portions easy to determine.
DINE ON PLANTS. Eat more plant foods and way less meat and processed foods.
JOIN A GROUP. Create a healthy and supportive social network of like minded friends.
FEED YOUR SOUL by engaging in spiritual activities of your own individual choosing.
LOVE YOUR TRIBE. Make your family a high priority. This means whatever family you have created for yourselves, and is not necessarily limited to your birth family.
I want to take a moment here to thank the many of you who have sent me birthday wishes today. Someone must have posted it on facebook??? Because I have received many facebook messages wishing me a Happy Birthday. I have also received phone calls, emails, and cards as well. What a wonderful "tribe" I am surrounded with. Thank-you all so much for being there for me and "feeding my soul" in such a fulfilling way. I will live many happy and healthy extra years as a result of this outpouring of love. Thank-you.
Happy and Healthy 2010 to us all.
Gayle and Jaime
